Michal SEDLÁČEK studied with Prof. Jarosla Foltýn at the Prague Conservatory and since 2003 has been studying with Prof. J. Pazdera. In 2006, he was accepted to the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Prague.
Three times he received 2nd prize at the Kocian Violin Competition in Ústí nad Orlicí and 2nd prize at the Josef Muzika Competition in Nová Paka. He received the 1st prize 2007 in the International Leos Janáček Competition and the EMCY Art for Music Prize. He has also taken part in the Yehudi Menuhin Competition in London and in 2009 won the Bohuslav Martinů Competition in Prague, where he also received a special prize for piece by B.Martinů. In 2001 and 2002 he participated in master classes of Václav Hudeček. In the summer of 2003 he attended Meadowmount School of Music where he studied with prof. Stephen Shipps. Since then he took part in many master classes by outstanding musicians: Gabriela Demeterová, Václav Hudeček, Ilja Kaler, Ulf Hoelsher, and Ruggiero Ricci. From 2005 he got the training during the International Music Academy of Pilsen pursuing classes by professors Stephen Shipps and Sylvie Gazeau. Michal is actively involved in chamber music. He is a member of Sedláček String Quartet, Alea Trio, and Sedláček-Averkiev Duo. Michal plays the violin build by his father, Petr Sedláček, an accomplished violin maker. |
